Big Stack Attack

In a online poker tournament, the chip leader has a slight edge over the other online poker players because each chip is ammunition that can be fired at the pot. Obviously, whoever has the most ammunition has more power. When there is a huge stack at the poker online table, the power dynamic becomes completely skewered and imbalanced. If there is a huge stack betting behind you, then you are in a very precarious position. That big stack is able to force any other player to make the toughest decision of all — to go all-in. The big stack can end your tournament any time you bet. When there is a big stack at the table, be very selective about any hands you play because it may be your last. If you are not willing to enter the pot with a raise, then you should probably just fold your hand. Limping into a pot ahead of the big stack is risky business. Basically, the big stack can siphon off chips by raising any limpers who enter the pot. When you get a strong hand, with a big stack behind you, then put out a raise, or just go all-in. The big stack may raise it up even more to isolate you, and then you’re most likely to go heads-up with a good hand, which is more desirable than trying to survive a multi-player pot.
