Girl Talk A-Z: Overcoming Alopecia with Synthetic Wigs for Beauty

Most couldn’t believe the beautiful and confident Colleen Upton, my youthful partner in crime, could own and wear medical wigs. Her signature hair and fashion was synonymous with her femininity. Guess what? Miss Prim n’ Proper remains celebrated for her impeccable looks. Only a handful of souls think to notice that she wears well-crafted African American wigs. You’d be surprised!

As kids growing up in high school, we once swept all the beauty pageants. But in college her medical hair loss took its toll and she became nearly bald. I mentioned these human hair wigs. Even so she shrugged it off. Even on bad days she fearlessly unveiled her bald-headed look.

Attending our university’s baseball championship, we taunted the players until someone accidentally threw the puck (or that thing they use) at us. With quick reflexes she tried to get it and her bandana jumped from her head, revealing her bald head. Like nothing happened, she tossed the ball to the game official. Attitude, did I mention she’s got it?

But, who can be invincible at all times? Months later we got together for a cookie baking marathon, where she very sincerely confided that she prefers to do without hair as a statement. She could never think about well crafted lace front wigs, secretly acknowledging she wanted one. At that disclosure, our fearless protagonist became beet pink in the face and requested that I can’t mention it again. She really needed help.

I couldn’t drop it. That night, I talked about getting her a new wig. Eventually we both ended up with the obvious conclusion: we’ll think of wigs as fashion, and we love fashion. So I’m getting one too!

We had a great time, flabbergasted by the possibilities. I never imagined that women’s medical wigs were so professionally crafted for so many women. These wigs for women’s hair loss were exactly what she needed. Personally, I arranged a delightfully fresh ensemble to go with my wig. We do it all together, and that will surely endure. The other day she sent me her thanks for reintroducing, and disclosed that it encourages a fresh spirit that she’d forgotten. It’s encouraging to realize little miss attitude rediscover the sassy, feminine girl I remember. I love her so much!
