Naveen Jain and Intellius Set Philanthropic Example for Other Businesses
Naveen Jain, Intelius Incorporated’s current chief executive officer and co-founder, puts emphasis on the importance of community giving particularly now that the world is suffering from an economic crisis.
As a humanitarian, Naveen Jain, alongside his wife Anu, is playing the role of a contributor to his community by offering monetary aid. In 2008, their contributions amounted up to $480,000. The contribution benefited numerous nonprofit groups that year.
Naveen Jain’s has also successfully instilled his philanthropic drive to give back to the community in the company’s workforce. In 2008, the Bellevue, Washington-based IT company donated about $210,000 to various local and national nonprofit aid associations, landing a new corporate record.
Intelius, which was founded in January 2003, is the leader in supplying people search, verification, screening as well as ID prevention services to millions of online clients and businesses. Although Intelius has only existed for six years in the Information Technology industry, it already has a reputation for being charitable.
In 2006, Puget Sound Business Journal hailed it as one of the top corporate philanthropists, having given almost $1 million in grants and in-kind endowments. Intellius has also provided hours of volunteer work to nonprofits supporting the youth, education, and healthcare.
Trish Carpenter of Overlake Service League, one of the groups assisted by Intelius, even praised Naveen Jain and his wife as well as the company’s leadership roles. She said that their efforts in giving back to the community have set an example for others to follow.
One of Intelius’ plans for 2009 is to inspire more employees to engage in charitable programs like paid volunteerism. This grants paid leaves to employees who want to contribute to their choice of charity groups. Another is the corporate matching program, where the company matches donations made by their employees to eligible nonprofits.
